PHEREC Technical Memorandum # 11

 DILUTION OF SCOURGE® FOR THE BOTTLE BIOASSAY

 

According to the manufacturer’s label 1 liter of SCOURGE® contains 36 grams of resmethrin and 144 grams of piperonyl butoxide.

 1 liter of SCOURGE® contains 36 grams of resmethrin.
1 milliliter of SCOURGE® contains 36 milligrams of resmethrin.

 TAKE one (1) milliliter of SCOURGE® and place it in a 100 ml volumetric flask.  Diulute it to 100 ml FINAL VOLUME with A.C.S. acetone [A.C.S. acetone is the grade of acetone approved by the American Chemical Society.]  This is the STOCK solution.

 The STOCK solution contains 0.36 milligrams per ml.

 TAKE 8.3 ml of the STOCK solution and place it in a volumetric flask.  Dilute it to 100 ml FINAL VOLUME with A.C.S. acetone.  This is the TEST solution. 
The TEST solution contains 0.0299 mg of resmethrin per ml.
The TEST solution contains approximately 30 micrograms of AI per ml.

 USE 1 ml of the TEST solution in each bottle of the bioassay.
