
Meet
Jane Shepard, the newest employee of the Biting Fly and Tick Control Section.
Jane
has been hired as an OPS employee to work at PHEREC for the summer season. Her duties include mosquito trap maintenance and
colony work with Culex
quinquefasciatus
and Aedes
albopictus.
Jane
has a very broad background of previous employment. She
worked for 17 years as an employee of the U. S. Postal Service in Panama City. She
has also worked at a newspaper as the editor of the Womens Pages and has experience
as a darkroom photographer, performing b/w and color processing.
Recently,
Jane was an AmeriCorps Volunteer with the Florida State Parks System. Jane assisted at St. Andrews State Park for about a
year. Part of Janes AmeriCorps volunteer
work included clearing trees and tarping roofs post-Dennis in Milton and Pace, in the
Florida Panhandle and manning a FEMA center in Mississippi post-Katrina.
Jane
is an avid duplicate bridge and scrabble player and has earned the title Captain
Never-Go-Out with her sailboat. Jane
duffs about the golf course regularly.
