Medical Entomology
at FAMU

Spring semester 2004 Jack Petersen is teaching Medical Entomology on the main campus of Florida A&M University. The 204 mile round trip twice a week presents some challenges to both the teacher and the students, but the Internet is one way to keep everyone on the same page. A web site http://famumedent.intranets.com has been developed to maintain some structure and order to the graduate course. Class notes and online resources posted to the site facilitate communication when office hours are out of the question. All class quizzes have been archived online to make it easier to get ready for the mid-term exam. And PowerPoint presentations missed in class can be viewed (or reviewed) at home on a laptop.

The World Health Organization, the Pan American Health Organization and the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention all maintain online resources helpful to the medical entomology student. The FAMU Medical Entomology site merely serves to guide the student to the best and most relevant of these services.

The web site is available for anyone to visit. Just login as a guest. Feel free to take the quizzes! [although visitors have non-credit status only!]
