Southeast Regional Conference

The 8th annual meeting of the Southeast Regional Public Health Pest & Vector Management Conference will be held February 9-11, 2004 at the Boardwalk Beach Convention Center, Panama City Beach, FL. The complete program is available at the PHEREC Web site. The SE Conference is our Center’s major training event each year and offers a wide variety of topics tailored for environmental, public health, pest and mosquito control professionals. For pesticide applicators seeking to renew a state-regulated license we offer a variety of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from Florida as well as neighboring states. For a complete listing, please go to our Web site.

This year a new Web site is available to aid in the CEU process. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Pesticide Applicator Continuing Education Unit Web site features a searchable database of CEUs. Go to: http://www.safepesticideuse.com/ceu

Click on “Guest—Reports only” to enter the site. The SE Conference is ID # 1440. Enter “ID # 1440” then click on “Search.”

The CLASS SEARCH and LIST page allows searches by location as well as CEU category. For example, if you are looking for *CORE* CEUs that are available in Bay County sponsored by Florida A&M University, use the drop-down menus to select your requirements, then click on “Search.” This is a very convenient way to locate training programs that are best suited to your personal needs!

The Southeast Conference Registration Form and hotel information are also available at the Web site http://www.pherec.org

Hotel reservations must be made by calling the Boardwalk Beach Resort Convention Hotel at (800) 224-4853 no later than January 10, 2004. The hotel rates are $49 single/double plus 11 % tax. Please identify yourself with the “Florida A&M Conference” for the special conference rate. Detailed driving directions as well as a map to the Convention Center are available as links on the “accommodations” Web page at the PHEREC Web site.

Workshop descriptions can be accessed at the PHEREC Web site http://www.pherec.org/SEConf/schedule2004.html.   Please note that there are concurrent workshop sessions. Check the program carefully to insure that the workshops you are signing up for are not scheduled at the same time. Workshops B, D, and G have strict student limits, so please sign up early!
