On Saturday, June 14, 2003, Mr. Errol
R. Wilson of Florida A&M Universitys Regional Institute for Math and Science
(RIMS) led a group of some fifty students on a tour of PHEREC. This event, which has
become an annual occurrence on our campus, is part of a larger program designed to keep
students in school and to facilitate the academic progress of our youth. The RIMS
students, who represent a broad geographic spectrum, learned about public health
entomology and the role of the land grant university in communicating the outcome of
mosquito research to the general public. Career opportunities in entomology were a
primary focus of the tour.

The extra-mural funding for the RIMS program
has recently undergone rigorous, competitive review and the program been extended for four
additional years. Congratulations to Mr. Errol Wilson and RIMS!
