Three scientific papers were presented:

The West Nile virus was a hot topic at the meeting. The AMCA
President, Dr. David A. Brown informed the membership of progress on House Resolution 342,
the "Mosquito
Abatement for Safety and Health Act," a.k.a. "the MASH bill".
This bill authorizes grants for mosquito control to combat the West Nile virus by making
available matching grants of up to $100,000 per county or parish. H.R. 342 passed a
vote in the U.S. House of Representatives 416 to 9 during the week ending March 16,
2003. The mosquito control bill awaits Senate action. We are following this
bill with great interest!
