Concurrent Workshops
| The seventh annual meeting of the
Southeast Regional Public Health Pest and Vector Management Conference is scheduled for
February 18-20, 2003. The conference will be held at the Convention Center of the
Boardwalk Beach Resort in the heart of the “Emerald Coast” in Panama City,
Florida. This year’s conference starts with an opening half-day of plenary presentations focusing on the mosquito-transmitted viruses, West Nile and dengue. The plenary session will be followed by two and a half days of concurrent workshops. The complete program is available on the Center’s Web site http://www.pherec.org A block of rooms has been reserved at the Boardwalk Beach Resort Convention Hotel located adjacent to the convention center at 9600 South Thomas Drive, Panama City Beach, Florida 32408. The hotel is directly on Gulf of Mexico beach frontage and within minutes of several popular attractions. Reservations must be made by calling the hotel at (800) 224-4853 no later than January 15, 2003. Rooms are $49 single/double per night. Concurrent workshop sessions are scheduled, so it is particularly important to check the complete schedule carefully and indicate which workshops you would like to attend on the registration form. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be offered for full participation in the workshops. Please refer to the PHEREC Web site for a complete listing of CEUs offered The state agencies approving CEUs are also listed at the Website. The following certification exams will be available on Thursday, February 20, 2003— (1) Florida Core Pesticide Exam (2) Florida Public Health Pesticide Applicator Exam and (3) Florida Mosquito Control Director Exam. These exams will be administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. If you would like to take any of these exams during the Southeast Conference, please indicate you intention to do so directly on the registration form.
