Dr. James E. Cilek attended the
Ninth International Conference on Lyme Borreliosis and other Tick-borne Diseases during
August 18-20, 2002, held in New York City. Dr. Cilek represented Florida A&M
University/CESTA at the Conference and gave an invited paper at a workshop entitled
"Lyme Disease Prevention through Insect Repellents, IR3535-A Newly EPA Approved Safe
Biopesticide". Dr. Cilek's research, comparing the efficacy of IR3535
with DEET, as repellents against black-legged ticks, was one of two studies that were
featured in this workshop.
