Mohamed Soumare, a masters student at FAMU, began an internship
at PHEREC on May 10, 2002. Mohamed will be working on a FDACS grant to study the
feasibility of aerial application of Gambusia for the control of mosquito larvae.
His masters thesis project focuses on the use of Mesocyclops longisetus for
larval mosquito control. Dr. Jim Cilek is Mohameds masters thesis advisor, so
the period of the internship at PHEREC will permit ample time for data analysis and
writing of Mohameds masters thesis.
Mohamed is from the West African nation of Mali. He has traveled in
both France and Russia. In fact, he lived 7 years in Russia where he attended the Patrice
Lumumba Institute graduating with a masters degree in Agronomy.
Welcome to Panama City, Mohamed!
