PHEREC New Employee

Shelley Spears is PHEREC's newest employee. Hired as a Laboratory Technician in the Mosquito Adultidcide Section II, Sheley brings a broad experience in chemistry, having worked previously in a photochemistry laboratory that manufactured developers and fixers. Shelley recently moved to Panama City because of her husband's assignment to Tyndall Air Force Base as a Department of Defense contractor. Shelley has been busy learning how to maintain laboratory colonies of Culex nigripalpus, Culex quinquefasciatus and Ochlerotatus taeniorhynchus. Soon, Sheley will be learning the scientific names of all of the medically important mosquito species in Florida and how to recognize them under the dissecting microscope.
